Support

Questions, bugs, ideas — write to support@bookcatapp.com. BookCat is made by one person, and every letter is read.

Books

Which formats does BookCat read? EPUB 2 and 3 (reflowable) and FB2, including FB2.ZIP. Files with DRM can't be opened.

How do I add a book? On the shelf, tap Add Book and pick a file, or share a file to BookCat from another app — Files, Mail, Safari.

My books didn't appear on my other device. Books, positions, bookmarks and your vocabulary sync through your own iCloud. Make sure you're signed in to iCloud on both devices; on the shelf, pull down to check iCloud now.

Smart features

Why does BookCat ask permission before the first question? To answer, the part of the book your question needs is sent to OpenAI. The app asks before anything is sent; you can change your answer in Settings → Data and AI.

What is the free allowance? Everyone gets a one-time set of free AI answers, shared by all devices on the same iCloud account. Answers you've already received are kept on your device and never count again.

Can I use my own OpenAI key? Yes, in Settings. Then questions go directly to OpenAI under your account, with no monthly limit.

Subscription

How do I cancel? In Settings on your iPhone or iPad: tap your name → Subscriptions → BookCat. Or in BookCat: Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription.

I bought a subscription but the app doesn't see it. In BookCat, open Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases.

Refunds are handled by Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com.
